The monarchy continues....

Though we have been successful in getting rid of monarchy in most of the governments, we have not yet wiped out the desire of a father leaving the ownership of a state to his son.
The most powerful office on this earth, the occupant of the white house cannot deny having received the benefits of nepotism in his career. Sometimes, capable daughters may get to reap the benefits as in the case of Mrs. Bhutto.
And nonetheless, the current political scene in the country too bears the testimony to this theory.

Today's newspapers were abuzz with two political stories, one regarding the demand for the coronation of Rahul Gandhi, son of Rajiv Gandhi and other regarding the attempts of toppling the Cong. govt. in Karnataka by H.D.Kumaraswamy, the third son of former PM Devegoda. In effect, despite best attempts of crying for the democracy in the country, we have not been able to come far. The democracy is nothing but a farce, the demands of congress party workers of making a young novice like rahul as the country's PM bolsters my arguments. Is honorable PM Mr. Man Mohan Singh nothing more than a keeper for the post? Is this nation a family property which is kept in trust till the time the family heir is ready to take reins?
Why do not people get this simple fact that all the accolades in life need to be earned by merit and not by birth? If there are some heredetiary qualities of an able administrator or a public leader, they will themselves bring the right man to the right position at the right time. The need is for the people to get out of the slave mentality, Only the son of a king can be the king.
Forced attempts will always lead to disruption and chaos, as can be seen in the case of Shiv Sena when Bal Thakre tried to force the leadership of his son, Udhav on his loyalist and had to face the revolt by his most trusted and able lieutenants like Raj Thakre, Narayan Rane and Sanjay Nirupam.

The problem exists because every father wants to give his son the position he has earned in his lifetime, he wants him to start from where he stops. But, we forget that as our age begins from zero, so will our achievements. This is the law of nature and whenever humans will try to disrupt it, nature will retaliate back to settle the score.

Well said!!! In fact, this problem persists in several other walks of life as well. Taking your post forward, the problem commences when the successor is equated with the former king. Most of the times, the poor guy finds himself in continuous scrutiny as people anticipate too much from him. And obviously, no two persons can have the same modes of blossoming. Each one of us arrive on this planet with a different fate and thus, we should engineer our own path.
